Real military flying saucer research: Project 1794 (better sound+extra pictures)
Note: this is a re-post with beter sound (first version had too loud high jet sounds) and extra pictures at the end.
Project 1794 is from the early 50's, by the United States Air Force and AVRO Aircraft.
It used to be secret, but in 2012 the information has been declassified.
So yes; a flying saucer! This was serious research, about how to build a real flying saucer, not a UFO of course, but disc shaped aircraft called: Silverbug, Y-2, and the prototype P.V. 704.
They were designed to be VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) fly supersonic and at extremely high altitudes. Up to Mach 3+ and a 100,000 feet.
These specifications are not of a jet fighter. When flying this high and fast, think instead of what has been build in the 60's: the Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird".
The 2 original reports can be found at "the National Archives".

Program Planning Report
Project 1794 Extension Program
catalog.archives.gov/id/6981836
The main character of this story is John Carver Meadows Frost, a man who's work has been a great inspiration to me, for his many way-out-there aircraft designs. He for example is also the father of the AVRO car.
But yea: Silverbug has never flown? Is that really so?
One of the clearest UFO photos ever made, shows a disc shaped flying something that looks remarkably similar to the designs in Project 1794. These photos were taken by Photographer Ed Keffel and reporter João Martins. They spotted this UFO at Barra da Tijuca, Brazil, on May the 7th 1952.
So; the UFO photos are from 1952, and these final reports are from 1956 and 1957...
If any of you happen to go visit area 51, you may find the Silverbug craft there.
Please make some good photos, that would be awesome!

Turn a ceiling fan into a wind turbine generator?!

The goal of this video is to learn how stuff works, and to help everybody who wants to try this conversion themselves. I h...

my best approach to all of this is to go with a car alternator that directs current 12 V and you are done life is an easy way and not too complicated it also you can look for a higher AMP output if you have a bigger props - then you send it to a convertor and you get the current you want -- I made my blade from 6 " or 8" is better plumbing tubing now if you want to use vertical or helical blads then you buy it ready-made it will work out cheaper then trying to make it and of course you will need to make a strong vertical pipe supported by 3 legs or to the side of the house with log brackets

Hallo from Amerika! Tennessee in fact, what is interesting to me (and you are correct - it IS an induction motor) is if a charge can be passed through it (like an alternator in an auto) that creates the essential magnetic field required in order to have the ROTOR ( the rotating part) generate more power and send it back out in relation to the field current or voltage. It seems to me even if it is wound 1 to 1, it is up to the wind forces to create the additional powe, so then the product should be variable according to the wind force applied. Same idea as using magnets - it's just a kind of 'Ourobouros' thing where a battery is needed to begin it: ~ In order to produce an output, there has to be a charge for the field windings. ~ once running, it can sustain it's own field winding current (!) and the battery after re-charging can be disconnected entirely In other words, the magnetic field is created by it's own voltage - which it uses to create the voltage for the magnetic field. Once voltage is introduced to the system... Really, I promise This is why a modern car can be got running, and the battery actually lifted out WHILE it is running and placed in another vehicle if necessary. But if it is turned off the whole of the electrical system stops right then. No Lights, no anything. Such an event doesn't even harm the system, it just waits for battery power or whatever.

beautiful, except... i think you are focusing on the wrong side of the wing. what happens to the bottom half of the ring? it IS the coanda effect, which is simply bernoullis, and as you say, its the atmosphere pushing down on it that makes it "cling". coanda does NOT produce "lift". the atmosphere pushes down on that layer of low pressure air just as hard as ever. so. you chop the ring in half, the inner surface is traveling at at least twice the velocity. higher. the velocity of rotation in the vortex and forward speed. so yes, very low pressure zone. but the atmosphere is STILL PUSHING IT DOWN. what happens to the bottom half though? it seems to disappear? i see the vortex ring itself as gas with momentum, rotating. its inertia makes it want to fly out... centrifugal force. why doesnt it? bernoullis. its got velocity, a low pressure, and the surrounding atmosphere is high. its "slapping into a wall of air" and being constantly accelerated at right angles to provide centripetal force... the faster it spins, the more it tries to kick out, and the harder the "wall of air" seems. as its lower pressure with velocity it tries pulling in on itself, being 'crushed" ever tighter... but then conservation of angular momentum comes into play, as it spins faster it tries flinging out and slowing down... theres a sweet spot where in=out... and the vortex persists at that diameter... you chop it in half, and rather than impact air, thats soft, sticky, and tends to drag along with it, it hits an inclined plane... a solid surface. and it is the air in the LOWER half of the vortex ring that is losing its velocity, and transferring its momentum to the wing. along with the sudden change of direction down... both forces acting together to give a relatively powerful kick "UP" (and FORWARD). you never showed what happened when it was TOO LOW.

Yes Edie, we get ripped off all the time. Then again; people don't want to pay for quality and thus the quality companies go out of business. But the less and no quality companies often tell that their products are great, while they are near to junk. What can we do.. First: make me boss of the word. Then.. hmm.. Option 1) check all products. If the quality is not ok, then it may not be sold. But to forbid stuff is kind of dictatorial. Option 2) check all products. Make good stuff cheaper and bad stuff more expensive. Options 3) check all products. Add a report to all products, including names of better deals. You are free to buy products that ripp you off. But now you know. Companies will then make less income when their products are BS, and make more when their products are better. Agree? Or what is your solution?

Well I had the same idea and now we know that's a bust. I also noticed wobble when you tested the blades but that might be the blades became warped in storage or the camera angle. On another site someone suggested tread mill motors and then I realized that I had 2 small electric motors I could play with and both were battery operated. One was a grass trimmer and the other a battery operated soil mixer. The mixer was a gift I didn't need as I had a hand one that you could use standing up and I could have returned the gift saying I already had one. The mixer ate 2 batteries in under an hour so I was proud that they used identical batteries and I had bought extras for both. It was fun to sprinkle the compost on the soil and not have to exert yourself but that fun was a frustrating summer of stop and recharge until I finally went back to doing it all by hand. One season and the batteries were not available. They all died after one season, even being stored fully charged indoors as our winters are really cold. Both of the motors have almost no mileage on them and they worked when I cleaned them and put them in the shed to collect dust apparently is why they were designed. When I have time I will give it a try and I'll let you know how I fared. This was great fun and I learned what to look for and fix before I get to far into the project. Thanks for a great video and thank you for saving me hours of work that I will probably waste on the above. We'll have to wait and see.

Ok, instead of removing thev second set of coils, use both sets of coils in a two phase alternator, still using a full wave bridge rectifier. (Automotive alternators are three phase through a full wave polyphase rectifier, with the output sent through a voltage regulator to get an approximately 12 VDC output.) If you can figure out a way to get your rotor to stator gap down to about 0.005 to 0.010 inches, (0.13 to 0.27mm) you will improve efficiency. The smaller the gap, the higher the magnetic efficiency. Rare earth magnets fastened to a (magnetically) soft iron outer hoop will also help, as will soft iron "shoes" between the flat magnets and the round stator. One could also re-wind the coils for a different voltage, such as 48VDC, or even 120 VDC to charge a battery bank instead of a singlr battery. Another thing to consider would be a spring based turbine blade unloader to dump excess wind pressure when the wind exceeds a certain pressure value.
